Cold Aisle Containment
Cold Aisle Containment

With over 15 years experience in the bespoke design, manufacture and installation of caging to data centres worldwide Cross-guard offers a number of cold aisle containment solutions. These combine the often conflicting requirements for energy saving, security and fire safety with optimum data centre efficiency.

1.  Connexions Caging– Cross-guards’ market leading IT caging with the combination of the solid and perforated panels or addition of the polycarbonate or steel infills restricts the loss of cold air and prevent mixing of cold air with hot exhaust air. Sliding or hinge self closing doors can be installed at the aisle entrance.

Doors can be supplied with variety of the hardware including electromagnetic locks (can be integrated into existing building access control system or stand alone), key operated locks or combination of both. The polycarbonate vision panel is optimising LUX levels in the cold aisle without security being compromised.

2.  Cross -guard Cold Aisle containment solutions- Retrofit of the overhead passive or active panels and installation of the infill panels between and below the Data cabinets.

Passive panels-fixed overhead panels to contain the cold air. Panel’s options: transparent or opaque polycarbonate inserted into powder coated steel framing.  Panels can be installed to non-matching cabinets (width or height) and modified to be mounted   around any structural supports or services. Fixed panels can be combined with active panels.

Active panels-the overhead panels which enclose the aisle and integrated with the data centre fire system to open automatically to allow gas suppressant or water from sprinklers to reach into the aisle in case of fire (eliminates the need to modify and extend room sprinklers). Panels can be installed to non-matching cabinets (width or height) and modified to allow services through.

3.   PVC Curtains – a flexible and inexpensive way to improve data centre efficiency when caging is not present or required. Vinyl curtains can also be combined with caging or other cold aisle containment solutions and cut around existing structures.
